After discussion, the following points were agreed:
Stalls for the event must be erected between 1600-1645hrs, no stalls to have music, or loudspeakers/p.a. systems.
It has come to the committee’s notice that the Padre selected for the service may be unable to attend due to an impending surgical operation, therefore the RAFA have been tasked to find an alternative liaising with the RBL.
The RAFA rep’s informed the committee that due to an ongoing dispute between the RAFA/RBL, the RAFA Standard may not be paraded at the event, the remaining rep’s expressed their deep disappointment at this decision, however, the RAFA will still participate in the event.
Baz Winwood asked if a canopy of some form, could be provided for the VIP stand, and the musical performers, due to the possible excessive heat generated in June. Graham Knight will be contacted to see if he or his office help with this request.
The RBL have agreed to provide bases for the Standards to sit in during the event, minimum of six.
The Director of the Salt Museum is to be approached and requested if he can find a Spanish national to carry the Spanish flag during the event.
Baz Winwood agreed to organise the balloon race in conjunction with “Pretty Neat” shop, Playa Flamenca.
It was agreed that programmes (apart from VIPs) would be numbered and sold at 50c each, the winning programme number (selected at 2045hrs), would receive a €50 prize, however, the prize winner must be in attendance, or the number will be redrawn.
A cake/cake stand will be available, attendees are to be invited to guess the weight of both to the nearest gramme, each guess will cost 50c, a prize of €25 plus the cake/stand will be announced at 2045hrs. In the event of a draw, the prize will be split accordingly, or by agreement of the prize winners.
Again, the prize winner must be present, or the prize will be redrawn.
A dark coloured (non see through) container will be provided with 200 straws inside, each straw selected will cost 50c, there will be five straws containing €20 within the container.
The committee were extremely pleased to be informed that the “Torry Army” will be participating in the Tug o’ War, however, to bring the odds of winning down for other participants all those taking part must be over 40 years of age!
Teams will be of FIVE, the event will be on a straight knock-out basis, draw for “pulls” will be made just prior to the event. This will be a catch-weight event.
All participating Associations will also provide a team, and it is hoped a team may also be found among attendees, including a children’s team (no restrictions on numbers taking part!!)
