INTERNATIONAL VETERAN’S DAY FESTIVAL

 

NEWSLETTER 1 – 30^TH JANUARY 2008

This years International Veteran’s day Festival will be held in the Park of Nations, Torrevieja on 19^th September 2008 between 1800hrs and 2359hrs by kind permission of the Mayor, and Town Council of Torrevieja.   The Town Council are also providing much of the ancillary equipment required (chairs, tables, police/medical cover, pa system, etc), for which the Committee running the event are very grateful.

The event is being sponsored for the first time by Rose Financial Services, Director Mr Mark Mountney.

This event will  be non political, therefore no political banners are to be displayed, or for that matter sports banners, etc.

All Veteran’s of all Nationalities are invited to attend this Parade, and Festival.   Those participating in the Parade are asked to wear white shirts, jackets/ties, dark trousers, medals, badges – headdress is optional.   Ladies, smart casual please.   Disabled participants are requested to join at the rear of each group attending the parade.   National/Association Standards/Flags may be paraded in front of each contingent.   Initial timings for the form-up, parade and festival are attached to this newsletter.

VIP guests are yet to be approached, further detail on this subject will be published when known.

Invitations are being sent out to Charities, to join in the event by running a stall, as stated above, tables and chairs for stalls will be provided by the Town Council of Torrevieja.

It is hoped to run a “Children’s painting/drawing competition”, based on the same lines as 2007, however, the theme for 2008 will be “Torrevieja”.

The “tug’o’war” knockout competition will also take place during the festival, so if your group wish to take part bring your boots and kit along with you!!

The Committee have agreed to run a raffle, before and during the event in aid of the Cruz Roja Ambulance appeal.   Two thousand tickets will be sold at one Euro each, prizes to be announced.   It is hoped to find sponsors for the prizes for this event, there  will be three prizes, the draw will be made by one of the VIPs.
