The second meeting of the Steering Committee for the above event was held at the “Park of Nations” Torrevieja at 1600hrs Thursday 8th February 2007, in attendance representatives of the following local Associations:
Rod Millington RNA
Baz Winwood RNA
Royston Kear RBL/RMA
Noel Cork RAFA
Brian Hewett RAFA
After a very successful brainstorming meeting the following conclusions were made:
The venue for the above event will be the “Park of Nations” Torrevieja, by kind permission of the Mayor.
The event will take place on Wednesday 27th June 2007. Personnel/visitors are asked to attend by 1630hrs, VIPs 1645. All those attending are requested to bring their own seating for the event (excluding VIPs).
The dress for the event for Association members will be medals, white shirt, black/dk blue blazers/jackets, ties, black/dk blue trousers, black shoes, headdress optional. Other attendees, smart casual, please.
A short religious service (approx. 15 minutes) will take place at 1700hrs.
On completion the Parade Master will takeover the parade.
Those participating in the parade are requested to form up, adjacent to the entrance to the childrens play area, by 1730hrs.
Order of parade will be, Spanish Standard bearer, Union Jack Standard bearer, RNA Standard bearer followed by contingent, RBL Standard bearer followed by contingent, RAFA Standard bearer followed by contingent, all other attendees wishing to join in the parade will follow.
The parade will commence at 1745hrs, route to be determined, but anticipated to be in a circular movement around the VIP/Bandstand area, back to the starting point.
The Mayor of Torrevieja will take the salute.
After the parade, Association members will be asked to dress down into relaxed dress, if they should wish to do so (i.e. removal of medals, jackets, ties, headdress).
There will be various stalls in attendance, along with other events, such as a balloon race, “tug o war”, childrens bouncy castle, music/choirs, flamenco dancing, etc.
All attendees will be welcome to participate in the consumption of a giant paella, courtesy of the Mayors’ office, Torrevieja.
Attendees are reminded that there are only two public conveniences within the park boundaries, however, there are numerous bars adjacent to the area
