MINUTES OF TIVF COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT ASTURIAS RESTAURANT PUNTA PRIMA AT 1530hrs 22nd MAY 2008

 Present:

Rod Millington                                    Chairman
Dick Conway                                       RNA/Treasurer
Baz Winwood                                      RNA/Entertainments Secretary
Davy Young                                         RBL
Bruce Heath                                         RAFA
Brian Bourdon                                      RAFA

Also in attendance:  Gill Burden, and Steve Ironmonger (both RBL)

The Chairman opened the meeting at 1545hrs welcoming all those present, and stating that this may be a short meeting.

The Chairman informed the committee, and others present, that Rose Financial Service had been approached requesting the sponsorship monies promised some three months ago.   The Treasurer then received an email, which he forwarded to the Chairman – it stated that the Company was going into receivership in the next two weeks, and therefore there would be no sponsorship money forthcoming.

There followed a debate as to whether to wind up the committee, and cancel the event due to lack of funds, or try to raise further sponsorship.   The Torrevieja Council commitments still stand at the present time.

It was decided to place everything in abeyance for two weeks to regroup, holding an extraordinary meeting on 5th June next.

The Chairman closed the meeting at 1645hrs.

MINUTES OF EXTRAORDINARY TIVF MEETING

HELD AT ASTURIAS RESTAURANT  PUNTA PRIMA AT 1530HRS ON THURSDAY 5TH JUNE 2008

 Present:

Rod Millington                                    Chairman
Dick Conway                                       RNA/Treasurer
Baz Winwood                                      RNA/Entertainments Secretary
Davy Young                                         RBL
Bruce Heath                                         RAFA
Brian Bourdon                                      RAFA

In attendance:  Gillian Burden, Steve Ironmonger (both RBL), Bob Pinfold (Standard Bearer Marshall) RMA representative.

The Chairman opened the meeting at 1545hrs welcoming all those present.

A discussion then took place amongst those present as to whether to save the event.   The Treasurer reported that Rose Financial Services had been in touch with him, to state that a disgruntled employee, had sent a false statement regarding the winding up of the Company, which is still very much in existence, and doing well in the present economic climate.   The Company although not informed of the commitment by one of their ex-staff, have decided to contribute €500 towards the costs of the event as a goodwill gesture.   The Treasurer also informed the committee that the commitment promised by Torrevieja Town Council will be honoured.

The committee, after being given the above good news, agreed to continue to organise and run the 2008 event.

Baz Winwood raised several points:

Who would provide lighting for entertainers when dusk falls – this is to be investigated by the Chairman/Treasurer.

Should the committee not investigate the cost of advertising for the event?   The Treasurer was totally against this idea.   The Chairman is to investigate the cost of a advert in the local free press.

Why was there not a Spanish speaking member on the committee?   The Chairman explained that the Spanish, and indeed other Nationalities had been invited to join the committee, but to no avail at the present time.

Steve Ironmonger enquired if a “Fashion Show” could not be incorporated into the event.   Baz Winwood, and the Chairman agreed that this suggestion was too late for this year, but should be considered in the future.

Bob Pinfold stated that more thought must be placed on the rehearsal, and placing of Standard Bearers with regard to the event.   The committee agreed, and asked Baz Winwood to liaise with Bob concerning this subject.   All representatives present were asked to contact their Association Chairmen, over the availability of Standard Bearers to attend a short rehearsal with their Standards/Flags at a pre-determined time prior to the day of the event (dress: civilian attire).

Bruce Heath informed the committee that provision/construction of the dais is well in hand.

Davy Young was instructed to procure the stands required to rope off the VIP area.

It was agreed by all present to approach all the Associations with a view to obtaining a donation from each of €100 to assist with costs associated with the event.   The event raises the profile of all Associations attending, and was covered very well in 2007, both in local press, and indeed National TV.

Again, stalls will be available for charities, to sell their wares.   The committee hoped that all the UK Service Organisations on parade at the event would use a stall to promote the profile of their Association, the RBL and RAFA (having licences) may also collect monies during the event.   In addition to the aforementioned stalls, it is hoped that sponsor’s would man a stall of their own to promote their goods/services.

The committee registered their disappointment at not having the painting competition this year, due to lack of interest from local schools.   A face painting competition is to replace this event.

The committee are still actively seeking more sponsor’s for the event.

There being no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 1730hrs, next meeting will be Thursday 19th June, 1530hrs at this venue.
